about our interior design services
First, a phone conversation will help us evaluate your project and determine if we can help. We then offer a free initial Interior Design Consultation. In this meeting, I will walk through your home or business with you and discuss the specific needs of your home project. The initial meeting evaluates the project scope, your particular needs and timing, and a presentation of our services.
We advise all clients to start a design file. We suggest perusing through magazines and tearing out pages that catch your attention or creating a Pinterest Page with inspirational images. When we meet for our Interior Design Consultation, we will review your design file to help determine your desired style. We also suggest you start thinking about the project’s timeframe (start and complete date) and its budget and be honest about it with your designer. Having a ‘ballpark’ figure is a good way to narrow down the various options for materials and furniture. The best client/designer relationships start with open & honest communication.
During the Design Consultation, we discuss your preferred design styles, requirements for each room, how you live and work in your home etc. Next, we photograph the space and take formal measurements. From there, we prepare a schematic design presentation, showing you our initial drawings, general mood board, proposed material selections, palette options, and concepts. After the initial design approval, we will work with you on narrowing down the final selections, pricing, and implementing the design.
Design Consultation: Although every design project is different, a consultation is always the first step in the process. We will meet in person or speak over the phone to further discuss the project’s space, intention and goals. This will include the timeline and budget for the work. For online Design Consultation, we will ask you to provide photos and/or videos of the space and a detailed list of any furniture or finishes that will be retained and reused in the projects. We will also discuss the inspirational images to understand better what you want and need! The interview usually will take about one hour.
The Proposal: Based on our consultation, we will present you with a personalised Letter of Agreement that will outline the project scope and estimated design fees. Upon approval of the Letter of Agreement and payment of the project retainer, we will schedule your project!
Site Survey: We will schedule a time to visit the site to take measurements and photos of the space. We will use this information to develop plans, elevations, and details for your project. We will also bring in the additional trades required for the project for estimates during this time, if necessary.
Design Concept Board: Casabella Studio will create a concept board based on our Design Consultation. The intention is to transform our initial conversation into a visual manifestation of your design goals for the space. You will let us know what does or does not work from the board, and we will use that information to create a final board and itemised list of products. Depending on your location, the concept board will be presented in person or via email.
Final Presentation: The final presentation will include the preparation of floor plans and furniture arrangement along with the selection of furnishings, lighting, finishes and accessories for the space. It will be presented to you both visually and as a schedule of the chosen products, including where to purchase and/or what craftsmen to contact to complete the installation or construction of goods.
Procuring Goods: Should we decide upon custom pieces for the design or choose trade-only products, Casabella Studio will work with the vendors or carpenters to ensure the product is completed and delivered within the discussed time. Casabella Studio supports local businesses, and we will always suggest furniture and accessories that are available close to home and sustainable and eco-conscious materials.
We usually recommend purchasing the material and furniture from a variety of sources. We use local stores and retail locations, as well as online retailers. If our clients have sources that they prefer to work with, we are more than happy to do so.
No. Most clients purchase through us because of the trade discount we pass along and our relationship with suppliers.
